Chaotic organization driven only from the stock rate, no clear planning possible
Lead Engineer Mechanical-Component (Current Employee) –  Bezirk Baden, AGJune 18, 2019
IT systems are not stabile and very slow. Therefore you loose each day many time with the IT-systems, on the other side the capacities are very low, so that you have not enough time to do your job properly.
The management is looking to its own benefit, but not to the overall benefit of the company.
The people in general are friendly, but not really motivated since the situation is unclear. It seems that this is part of the communication strategy. People in the workplace are informed not in details or not correct. The management puts high value to compliance, but this is only in one way, from worker to management, not the other way from management to worker.
Pros
Offices with good climatization, salary is payed in time
Cons
Short term changes do not allow any planning; Most people are fighting only for themselves, not for the company profit;

Company with lot of hardworking people but management full of hot air
Senior MANAGER (Former Employee) –  Bezirk Baden, AGJanuary 31, 2019
Lot of hard working people, excellent salary and benefits. But sub-optimal management structure.

Management is busy is creating tons of powerpoint slides, always talk about how great we are, claim they are excited for people and the future, but are disconnected from reality.

They have been living in their bubble and is THE MAIN reason why the company is going down the drain.
Pros
Home/Office possible. Excellent tools like Skype with Video/Audio
Cons
Poor management culture and no one has any hands-on experience

The worst company to work for ever
Release Management Coordination (Former Employee) –  BadenDecember 8, 2018
Working time in GE is associated with constant fear to be fires at any moment due to unstable company's situation, disrespectful arrogant management, lack of opportunities for growth and development as well as huge stress at work, working non compensated overtime.

Sehr spannender Arbeitsplatz
Maschinenmonteur, Vorarbeiter, Balanceur (Current Employee) –  Birr, AGDecember 6, 2018

Pros
Arbeitszeiten, spannendes Arbeitsumfeld im Maschinenbau
Cons
Jobsicherheit ist nicht gewährleistet, Informationspolitik

Mechanical Engineer R&D (Former Employee) –  Baden, SwitzerlandNovember 20, 2018
I am a Mechanical Engineer in Product Development with 25 years+ of experience in preparation of full cycle of design documentation and specifications. Due to my organized, agile, dynamic and analytical approach to my work, I found passion in creating highly complex 3D Models and 2D drawings. I like working and communicating in an intercultural / international environment and the people I worked with would describe me as very goal oriented and committed to work.

back to the garage
Principal engineer (Current Employee) –  Baden, AGOctober 26, 2018
GE is continues on a slippery road!
I am not convinced it found a way out yet.
Management is completly detached from business and people especially outside of USA.
consequently in a global world the companies fails to meet its goal on short and long term. GE lost its drive to exellence completely and driving a global player back to the garage that it came from 126 years ago.! It is a shame !

Internationale Grossfirma
Projektleiter EPC Logistik (turn-key business) (Former Employee) –  Baden, AGJanuary 8, 2018
Pros
spannendes Arbeitsumfeld, global und schnelllebig
Cons
langfristig eher unsicher trotz sehr guter Sozialleistungen

Objectives Oriented / hierarchy and politics
Senior Manufacturing Improvement Manager (Current Employee) –  Baden, AGOctober 12, 2017
General Electric is a great company and have a very strong, good well appreciated culture based on Integrity, diversity, customers and meritocracy. However General Electric Switzerland is the result of ALSTOM Switzerland acquisition and the culture is a blend of the two. The cultural transformation is still on going with pockets of hierarchy, power and politics.
Power Business is suffering a volatile market and the business is running short in cash. Streamlining plans and personnel reduction do not help to build trust and release people potential. At contrary people work under pressure and fear of the future.
I believe GE will succeed in this transformation stronger then ever, GE is a company I love and recommend for its business and technology briskness.
Pros
technology briskness, unlimited possibilities of growth, broad portfolio, reputation
Cons
cultural transformation on going, scarcity of resources
